I never seen anything from Uber saying how much you should tip the driver. According to this article Uber has tipping suggestions. I guess they assume if drivers get tipped we wont complain about the rates as much.

Here is the thing, tipping is forever ruined on Uber. No matter what they say now, no matter how many campaigns are run, they ruined it by taking a strong no tipping stance in the beginning. Let's face it, people don't love to tip if they don't feel they have to - by Uber saying originally that they didnt have to riders have an eternal "out". Sucks, but that is just how it is.
If they had stuck with it, but actually paid drivers decent wages, do you think the drivers would still hVe complained about?
I sometimes wonder.
That’s sorta vague on the longer rides. Is it 10-20% or $5-10?
I’ve been tipping 20% on the airport rides. The other day it was $120 and I ended up $24. Give me an honest feedback. Am I overtipping on those longer trips?
I did think $144 for an UberX on a 45 minute drive was just way too much. (Albeit $15 of it being for the George Washington Bridge toll.)
I do mostly airport rides 45/60 min. A few will tip $5/$10 but most tip 20%. I am sure the driver greatly appreciated that tip. I think if you tipped $15 on the trip the driver would've been happy also. Were you in NJ travelling into NY? If so was your driver a NJ or PA driver? If so the driver gets $20 surcharge as out of state drivers are not allowed to pick up in NY & we may also incur tolls in the way out. However Lyft & Uber dont always give us the $20 because they are idiots. In that type of ride though $15 would be acceptable.
You've got to be the best pax ever, will give you a ride any time. 😆
