Taxi drivers striking is not distant memories. I find irony and perhaps just plain feel bad that now Uber drivers are striking.

"Sher Abid is one of the group fed up with paltry fares, uncertain insurance, and lack of tax information, and they have set up a website about next week's planned no-show.

Abid said he tried working as a full time driver but gleaning as little as $6 or $7 for an Auckland airport fare meant it was impossible, and he only does it now to supplement his new full time job."

Uber's are just going to be the next taxis. It will come full circle, mark my words.

I'm not saying the taxi industry was perfect but Uber did create quite a bit of mess, setting unreasonable fare expectations from passengers, and triggering price wars.

Where do we go from here, you know?

Uber brought technology revolution and an overhaul to an industry that was so distributed that they couldn't make any changes. I think they did an amazing thing to bring something the consumers wanted and making it available to all. That is some priceless stuff.

All new inventions will disrupt the markets. They did their job. Now it's up to the people and industry to fix it.
