I scheduled a pickup for Friday, How reliable is Uber that they will pick me up?  I don't want to wait till the last minute only to find out they lost my reservation and do not show up to claim me and get me to the airport on time.  Do they email to confirm I still need them or what?  thanks

You are correct that the scheduled rides are not guaranteed.  See this thread:

    https://ride.guru/lounge/p/is-it-true-that-uber-scheduled-rides-are-not-guaranteed

With that said, Uber claims they do try to accommodate for scheduled rides. Unfortunately, this has not been confirmed by the drivers who do not seem to be getting any additional benefits to make these pick-ups. (Say, getting paid more or be encouraged to be at those locations around scheduled pickups.)

Lyft "posts" scheduled rides and drivers can "claim" and "sign up" for them.  This way, you do have an assigned driver.  This seems to be a great idea until you realize that these drivers who signed up decide to not be in the area or forget they signed up.

In general, if you are in a populated area where there are regularly Uber and Lyft cars around, you should be okay. Uber does trigger the request 15 minutes in advance, I believe, so the driver can get to you in time.

Pretty reliable.  I use it every Monday at 4:30AM to get to the airport.

As other posters, it's basically an automated way to call an Uber for you so you don't have to. It saves me from calling one while I am getting ready.

There isn't a great answer to this, unfortunately.

You're probably ok. But it is not guaranteed. A driver might accept your ride ahead of time, but even then they can still cancel. However as long as you are not in the boonies you are not like likely to have a problem.

I have never had a problem with scheduled rides, but I know people who have.

I recommend you leave a little extra time in case you have to make a last minute ride request.

LOL, it makes me nervous, I have no one to  take me to airport at 4:30 AM.....I am in suburb of Dallas,  so I guess I keep my fingers crossed that they come thru........taxi and shuttle pickup is 2x Uber rate, and the hard part is I am flying out one airport and back in at another, so I cant drive myself..  Might change my request time to 30 minutes ahead, just incase they don't show up, giving me plenty of time to figure out something else.  ty

You will have a much better chance of scheduling it on Lyft vs. Uber, Lyft shows the entire trip to all drivers int he are as soon as you schedule it, so a driver who wants to complete the ride will add it to their que. Uber does not show the scheduled rides, they just frantically start looking for a driver 15-20 min before. To be extra safe Schedule one on Uber and one on Lyft with 30 min apart so you can cancel the other one once car comes to get you

I am not playing games I will pay the extra for a skuttle ride that guarantees getting me to the airport on time.  So far I am not an Uber Dan from all I read

You may want to consider ordering black car (limo) services. They guarantee a ride and they cost a bit more.  I think there is place for personalized services.  There is a reason taxis went extinct but not limos and airport transfers.

Ha, I just saw this for the 4:30am flight thing.  That's what I do. every week.

Remember Uber does call one to arrive 15 minutes early and drivers are aware that it is a scheduled ride.  and don't worry about being dinged for driver waiting.  They love them airport rides. they make more money off of them. (I think)
