I feel so bad for the drivers. They are stuck in middle of this artificial price war between Uber and taxi authorities.
BTW. and people should know this. New York Yellow cabs have been reducing the lease prices (how much it takes for a driver to rent a cab) for a few years now. They just reduced it recently to unprecedented levels.
Taxi drivers AND Uber drivers are GETTING PINCHED!!
Don't you mean unpresidented?
What? sp?
@jbauer I believe that is a Trump joke. One of his Tweets.
Isn't this good for taxi drivers?
If what Uber is claiming is correct, i.e. "we are now making profits!", they should start raising the rates, no?
This is the start to everything. Many of my fellow drivers are starting to go back to taxi driving. There is no loyalty here. People go where the money is. Uber's flexibility is great, but this is a real job for many of us and we will go where the money is.
This trend will take us to crushingly low pay for the drivers. Very concerned.
I have a taxi driving friend who said that taxi driving will become a part-time gig for everyone involved. The deregulation of tais will hurt the drivers in the immediate future. This industry will not be the same anymore
The fact that the drivers are saying they can't make enough money driving taxis OR Uber is a proof of this. All drivers from both sides are picketing and uprising.
as a passenger I even feel weird about how cheap it is sometimes... I mean, I like to save money, but I don't like feeling like the poor dude whos driving me around is struggling to make ends meet...
