Upfront Pricing
Upfront pricing may seem higher at times because the upfront price takes into account the "supply and demand" for rides. Previously, there was surge pricing where your fare would be increased by a multiplier. With upfront pricing, the surge price is automatically taken into account. It is not good or bad, but a lot of people criticize upfront pricing because it is not always clear where the upfront price came from.
