With Lyft's Express Drive program could a driver pick up the rental in Phoenix Az and then drive to Prescott, Az and conduct business there for example? Are Lyft drivers allowed to pick up riders in other cities other than their profile if they are there for just awhile? Thanks, Scott

The Guru Take
Check Prescott for Lyft coverage.
Hi, Scott,
[UPDATE: My apologies. I previously wrote that Lyft may not support Prescott, AZ as it is outside of Phoenix's coverage area. However, it is indeed supported under Flagstaff's coverage area.]
Here's the short answer. Since Phoenix, AZ and Prescott, AZ are within the same state, you will be able to drive in both locations under the same Lyft profile. You will not have to do anything to receive ride requests in both locations. With Express Drive, you also have unlimited mileage and you are allowed to use it for personal reasons, so you should be good to go.
This isn't the case with any two cities. For Arizona, the rules are determined at the state level, so by you being a driver in Phoenix, you have already cleared the requirements for Prescott and Flagstaff. (See here: https://help.lyft.com/hc/en-us/articles/115012924267-Arizona-Driver-Information) With that said, we still suggest that you contact Lyft in advance and let them know that you intend to drive in Prescott. See below as to why.
Lyft has historically allowed you to drive in any state and any city, regardless of where you were. There was nothing you had to do, and you would get ride requests automatically inside the ap. We have heard of Lyft drivers doing cross country trips while working across several states.
However, this stance by Lyft has changed recently. They are now requesting drivers to notify them which cities and states you will be working in. This is due to state-level rules and requirements the drivers need to follow, such as the background checks.
- The state-level requirements are listed here: https://help.lyft.com/hc/en-us/sections/115003494688
- Lyft's current stance on you driving for multiple cities/states is here: https://help.lyft.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013080808-Driving-in-different-cities
(Side note: With that said, we have heard from other drivers that the Lyft app still functions fine across all cities. This is very unlike Uber where you simply won't get any ride requests if you are outisde of pre-approved regions.)
in summary...
Since you are within Arizona, and both cities have the same requirements, you should be okay. However, just to make sure, you may want to reacha out to Lyft. With Express Driver, since you have unlimited distance and you are allowed to drive it for personal purposes, you should be good there too. However, I would check the rental agreement and insurance policy upon checking out a car, just in case. (and those tend to change often)
