  Basically, drivers can refuse a ride (i.e. cancel, decline, etc.) for any reasons at all as they are independent contractors driving their own private vehicles.

  apparently, they still are not allowed to discriminate based on gender, religion, or race.  and if the rider has a service animal.

   I mean by state or federal law.  I get it that it's bad and you can be deactivated. I am now curious if this is considered illegal and whether the driver could be sued by the riders.   What about getting fined by the law enforcement and being arrested or criminally charged?

  I am so curious I submitted a question.  Of course, this would be a lot more relevant if I ever drove an Uber. haha

  There is a difference between being deactivated and doing something illegal.

  I am asking this seriously, because I don't know.  You said drivers can be deactivated but is this illegal?  Can this even be criminal?

  huh. you bring up a good point.

  If I am driving my own car, driving around personally, I can drive anyone or anything I want and I also have the right to refuse it, say based on "I just don't like you."

  Now, if I am actually "working" as a contractor, would the rules change?  I think it would.  You go into a business arrangement with someone the moment you decided to pick them up.

  Who said Lyft is 10% cheaper?  I don't think that's true anywhere.

  ...but if it were true?  People use Uber because everyone knows Uber and there are more drivers on Uber. If there are more drivers available, it'll offer quicker pickup times and less likely chance of surge.

   5 years ago in  Uber CEO makes 45.3 Million Dollars! Driver rates, bonuses, & promotions are being cut constantly.

  Yeah, look at that smile. 

  He’s being rewarded for his campaigns to improve their reputation, keep driver retention, preparing the company for ipo etc.

  Lyft used to encourage you to sit up front. Have conversations and such.  

  A person to person.  Not service provider to customer. Just two people sharing a ride.

  Those days are long gone.
