Uber commissions capped at 25%, no upfront pricing, exact destination on each trip before accepting a ride, old surge multiplier is back, no AR restrictions etc.

Uber is Making Big Changes in California for Drivers! Is all this due to CA AB5?
I welcome these changes over the past month culminating with commission caps at 25%, showing destination, bringing the old surge …
I'm still laughing, 675k 😆😂😂 maybe it's a typo, more like $67.50
Show me the money, that's what investors are going to say shortly.
One a day, not everything is free with UBER but almost.
😆 is this an Uber propaganda piece? 675k a year for 12 hours of work? I want to smoke what the poster and Greg are smoking.
You forgot to attach your referral codes, come in keep it real.
Every six to eight months they cut prices, last one in Los Angeles was March of 2019 when they lowered our rates to 60/21. Unconscionable!
Yes you can but if there’s delays and you can’t make it, you’ll be charged a cancellation fee, $10 on Lyft. Why would you schedule a ride out of an airport, always to s of cars available.
You’re right, giving stuff away like free delivery and free scooter rides is not going to make them money but they want to keep you on their platform instead of use Lyft. More losses!
When it’s in the driver app, most people sign it in fear or some sort of retaliation. I did not, I’m not in favor of being an employee but AB5 may be a powerful deterrent for U/L to come to the table for some concessions. They already have been talking to the SEIU and Teamsters, hopefully no Sweetheart deals are cut.
It’s typical Uber, not too much transparency. 😂
One free Uber Eats delivery a day. 30 minute free Jump scooter or bike a day, the discounts on rides have not yet been announced, it’s being tested in Chicago and SF
Ok call a cab?
I would agree with you except Uber and Lyft did not present their side they said in those in-app notifications that this law would take away flexibility and independence from the driver that is twisting the law there is nothing in AB5 that says anything like that therefore I see this coercion. As I said we have to agree to disagree however where I agree with you is that maybe it's due to lack of Education or whatever the reason is most drivers pretty much sign anything they see in the app like the amendments to the existing TOS so that they could sign on and keep driving.
We will have to agree to disagree on that subject I don't think you're studying ab5 enough. Are you telling me that the in-app notifications you got from Uber and Lyft was not coercion saying that you're going to lose your flexibility saying that you're going to lose your Independence come on now
A few hundred L.A. veterans got deactivated because of that, cherry pick and cancel if it's a shortie. Got to be careful about that.
https://therideshareguy.com/the-battle-for-ab5-heats-up-in-california/
Rule #1, never ever sign anything without reading it thoroughly. However, the coercion and bullying tactics UBER and Lyft deploy are shameful, what else is new? I've extensively written about AB5 simce I'm in CA on RSG, the most we'll known blog in the country when it comes to the rideshare industry.
The so called flexibility is the last leg on the U/L table and it's not a structurally sound one. We're all IC in employee clothing. U/L dictate everything else, even turning off the driver's app after two or three missed requests.
AB5 has nothing in it where it says it will get rid of flexibility, that's UBER and Lyft BS.
Well said, even that is getting tough these days with all the rate cuts, disappearing quests, consecutive streaks, boist zones, PDB etc. Uber and Lyft prey on newbies instead of keeping the veterans around.
Cherry pick before you accept the ride, pay attention to pick-up location, 45+, surge rate, pax rating etc.
Riders don't know if the driver knows, driver only knows if it shows up on the app. Sometimes, I've gotten tips two weeks after a ride, seems late but better than never.
I've had pax tip in front of me and it doesn't show up, I can't prove it because I can't force the pax send me a screenshot. It is what it is, make tipping mandatory. 😆
You'll have the best strategy, all the tricks in the book, still, you don't have total control of what you'll end up earning as an IC. You're not in charge of setting your prices, you don't know what the job is and those dreaded deadmiles.
They had a great idea, they managed to muck it up for everyone.
