Uber is Making Big Changes in California for Drivers! Is all this due to CA AB5?
I welcome these changes over the past month culminating with commission caps at 25%, showing destination, bringing the old surge …
I'm glad you're with me, since I wrote that I may have a better version, hybrid game of Pokemon Go and Wheel of Fortune. First you'll have to find the Pokemon, the pink box, then the Wheel of Fortune starts, then adding pennies to the bonus every few seconds. What do you think? 😆
It's a scam, the other day I did a ride on Lyft where I was paid a 10 dollar bonus from LAX to downtown Los Angeles at 11pm, it's a 17 mile ride and took less than half an hour, I got paid a total of $25 and the pax was charged over $60, so they're charging the pax prine time but paying the driver a lousy $10 bonus, it would have been much worse in rush hour traffic.

House calls? I like it, every time I’m at the doctors, I wait for an hour past my appointment time. How about an app combining doctor visits with pot delivery? It’s legal in CA!
Yeah, they tried that in Los Angeles couple of years ago and it failed miserably. Imagine taking every pot head for a taco run when they get the munchies. They stopped it after a month or two, another genius idea.
I agree 100%. Who's fault is that anyway? U/L
Rideshare should have never been this cheap.
Now they figured out that they sucked all the blood out of the driver by rate cuts, it's time to fleece the passenger. Look at those examples in my article, atrocity!
It passed the lower committee to go to the Appropriations Committee then it will be debated on the California senate floor and will be up for vote at the end of August so we will know by the end of August if it will pass or not
Sadly I agree with you I think they like a very high turnover rate because the new drivers don't have a point of reference as far as their Baseline and don't know that they're working for peanuts
So as long as you're making money, you don't care what percentage U/L take from what the pax paid? Do you think it's fair that it's your car, your gas, your risk but they take 50% plus?
Uber and shady is like milk and Oreo cookies. 😂
I’m glad you’re running a profitable business. From your other replies, I’m certain you have your ducks in order. You’re in the top 2% of drivers who treat rideshare as a small business and understand the economics. Good luck and be safe.
I'm an x New Yorker, so east coast mentality, no time for BS, call ot the way I see it. If I'm going to insult you, you'll know, if I'm going to compliment you, you'll know.

No debate, no argument, we agree to disagree, that's how civilized society should work unlike Washington.
Take a compliment as it's meant to be, no sarcasm, nothing more than a compliment for a hard working person who is in charge of her life and her family.
I will stop posting on your threads if that's your wish but long winded responses tell me that you like having the last word. So be it. Take care!
I read your reply a few times, what you've done is super human, most would have quit on life and the people around them, you haven't, you're a champ.
However, just like a kid getting bullied at school, sometimes we need to stand up even though we may get beat up. As drivers, we've been getting beat up far too long. I don't care how much worse UBER can make things for part time drivers. According to them, 70% are part time and only last less than 8 months. Part timers are responsible for 30% of the rides on the platform, 30% full timers are responsible for 70% of the rides given. By the time AB5 becomes law in January 2020, UBER will have to replace almost all the drivers on its platform. It's wash, rinse and repeat for them.
Like I said before, I don't want to be the employee of these shady, unethical companies but drivers need a weapon to get something out of these evil outfits, if AB5 is that weapon so be it.
The in app notices U/L sent the drivers are nothing but coercion and scare tactics. I've read the law, all of it, there's nothing in it that will take away your flexibility which is the only leg U/L can stand on and that leg isn't structurally sound.
They will keep cutting the rates, they will get rid of all the incentives because they depend on desperate people to be their slaves. What's rideshare anyway? Modern day digital slavery.
How do you judge U/L failing in N.Y.? They're still there, still doing rides and driver's pay has improved because they couldn't buy enough politicians. Will they lose some drivers? Yes, the shouldn't have oversaturated the market as badly as they did. Now we have caps on the driver headcount. Time to wake up from the subsidized fantasy dream both U/L and the passenger were experiencing.
I agree with you, it shows hiw easily they cave not knowing the the economic realities of what they're doing. U/L are out of control, acting like a bull in. China closet, time for a break check.
AB5 is not about UBER and Lyft only, it's the classification of IC (independent contractors) vs employee status. U/L are getting the headlines since they are the largest gig economy players. AB5 creates very clear guidelines by an ABC test, if any gig company fails this test, they have to classify their workers as employees. The following link is everything you need to know about AB5.
https://therideshareguy.com/what-would-happen-if-drivers-became-employees/
How long have you been driving? Take away one nickel you go back to healthcare? How many nickels have they taken away from you over the past couple of years, yet you’re still driving. I guess 60 cents a mile is where you draw the line in the sand.
And the rest of your response is a rant against Uber and how horrible of a company they are. Yet you’re still driving for them. A majority of Uber and Lyft drivers are suffering from Stockholm syndrome, amazing. Why wait for the next shoe to drop? Execute your plan B.
You obviously don’t know anything about the proposed law. But you seem like you’re completely against it. Uber treats you like an employee already, controls everything you do except when to turn your app on or off and they’re even doing that now after declining three requests in a row and call you an IC. You’re afraid of Uber treating their drivers worse if this becomes law? How much worse could they treat their drivers? You’re afraid of retaliation?
