  I think you are focusing on the extra step of the PIN number a little too much. This will undoubtedly save time. Instead of mass chaos of drivers and riders all looking for their specific match, clogging up the curbs and causing heavy traffic, Uber drivers will function like a taxi rank. They will all get in one smooth line and passengers will simply enter into the next available Uber and enter their pin.

  
  

  However, I do see some issue with safety here. It seems like anyone could pretend a little bit easier to be a driver and once they have someone in their car with child locks on they could quickly drive off before the person gets a chance to confirm the pin.

  You don’t really realize how well regulated uber and lyft are in NYC until you visit other cities and the driver really is just some dude using a personal vehicle, not regulated or licensed by the city in any way.

  I feel bad for all those taxi drivers who took out loans to purchase medallions. Owning medallions used to be an investment vehicle, sadly it didn't pan out for many drivers.

  I would think they would care about their image to some degree and fire this driver. I mean, you can't just have drivers abondoning passengers on the side of the road. That would definitely decrease business which would decrease dollars...

  nah, too many people in India looking for jobs, if the drivers are unhappy with the pay others will step up and do it. It is sad but it is the way it is.

  Yep - I have done this before. Here is how.

  1. Sign into partners.uber.com
  2. Select the hamburger menu in the top left and tap profile
  3. Select VEHICLES
  4. Select the ADD VEHICLE button
  5. Add the vehicle's make, model, year, license plate, and exterior color
  6. Tap "Finish Uploading Docs" to upload the documents for your vehicle
