EDITED TO ADD: Our local airport is SMF (Sacramento, CA)
Hi there: I have elderly parents who can't walk far or fast, and have trouble walking to the Uber/Lyft passenger pick-up spot at our local airport (quite a distance from the curb where other passengers get picked up by friends/family). Do you as drivers have any suggestions for what to do? Do airports offer exceptions when an elderly passenger with limited mobility needs to be picked up by a ride share driver at the airport? Most airlines offer wheelchair/passenger assistance, but won't wheel a passenger all the way out to the ride share pickup spot. Just trying to figure out how to help my parents navigate this when I'm not traveling with them.

I think I would have to agree with the other posters to go with a taxi, sadly. I do wonder if your parents asked their wheelchair pushers kindly if they could escort them to the rideshare pickup location if they would. It may not be normal but I would think they may be willing to make an exception?
Yah I would say go with a taxi, assuming the taxi stand is closer. It is a damn shame they have made this so difficult. Most airports are like that now and no I don't know of any that have exceptions for mobility limited people.
This is so true at so many airports now. The designated rideshare areas are often make-shift locations in the parking garage, and you have to walk so far. They are often even shared by multiple terminals too.
I was just at Boston, Austin, and Providence airports, and all of them we had to snake all over. In Boston in Terminal C, the rideshare area is literally outside with no roof!
I am not sure if I have a good suggestion. You may need to rely on a regular taxi service or bite the bullet and order a limo service.
Taxi? Not knowing what airport you're talking about, taxi pick up may be easier.
I edited my post to clarify, thanks for pointing that out. We are in Sacramento and primarily use SMF airport.
