Guilty of assault? Wanna drive for Uber? No problem, as long as it was eight years ago...

Is it just me or is this a bit lax.

"The paper reports that Bivines was charged with assault in DeKalb County in 2009, and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of battery in May 2010. But the offense wouldn't have been flagged by Uber's driver pre-screening process because it only tracks criminal records as far back as seven years, according to the Journal Constitution."

There are plenty of people who want to or do drive for Uber, I think they can afford to make the requirments a bit stricter...

No, this is way to lax! I don't want to get in a car with any criminal, no matter how long ago they were charged.

Wow, so there is no forgiveness...ever? That seems a little harsh to me.

That does seem crazy. We're not talking about a credit report here, this is people's safety.
