Man this is a hard situation. That driver should have never picked up that girl, she is clearly underage but this isn't Uber's fault, it is the drivers. Though I do not believe you can blame this girls suicide on the driver either. Deactivate him from the Uber platform for breaking the minor rule but he didn't lead this girl to her death.
Interesting play as I bet they are hoping to also get more riders from their Eats customers.
I read that driver can also leave comments for their riders? I don't think I have ever seen a comment from a driver on my profile.
I opened this thread thinking it was a question and when I read the OP's text I actually found it super fascinating. It is rare to hear insight from a dispatcher. Thanks for sharing! Would love to hear any other stories you might have, I am sure there are a few.
LOL, this made me crack up. I have never had an Uber car smell that strongly. Maybe you have a really sensitive nose? I do know drivers are rated on the smell of their car (ie: no smoke, rotten food, etc) so many do rely on plugins to mask the smell from carrying passengers all day but it shouldn't be that overpowering. I think your best bet is going to be to open the windows whenever you ride. Hopefully you live somewhere with nice weather?
Sounds about right, this is the sad nature of Uber drivers.
Ya, but if you put restrictions on uber/lyft selling that merchandise you know a black market will end up popping up with old Uber drivers selling their decals to sketchy people.
Who leaves there keys in the car with strangers?!?! I mean really are we surprised they stole it?
Would you rather:
1. This situation, guy in front grabs your wheel causing you to swerve.
2. Or that situation from last week, Guy in backseat starts punching you from behind.
That they are a "bad" company. Look at any tech company, or male dominated company for that matter and you will see some "bro culture", the media just loves to pick on Uber.
I do tip on the app but I always feel askward leaving the car and not tipping in cash like the driver is just judging me.
"and this is why you do not threaten your Uber driver"
Once I ran a curb an popped my tire, put my spare on and drove to a mechanic to get a new tire. Mechanic told me that my whole axis was shifted and it would be a few thousand dollars. He made this big show of wiggling my tire back and forth to show me how unsafe my car was. I took my car to another shop (one that was highly recommended) and they found that the first mechanic had loosened one of the bolts on my tire to make it appear wiggly!! Other than that my car was completely fine. Unreal that this guy let me drive on a loose tire in hopes that he would make some money. This was 8 years ago and I still get heated about it.
To be fair, the minor was 17 so he could have thought it was an adult. I am sure we have all driver around minors before without realizing it.
The heroin on the other hand, ya, thats not good lol
forget the makeup, how in the world do you shave while in the car?!
Wow, I never thought about that side effect before.
If Uber just screwed over Google, they better watch out...
Exactly! The ad isn't just annoying, it is hindering the usability of application.
Uber XL is quit a bit cheaper, honestly, for the price I would just recommend taking the XL. Cars for XL still have to be in decent shape!
I can tell you one thing, I don't envy this fella.
