How to pick up preplanned trips with Uber as a driver?
The Guru Take
Are you referring to Scheduled Rides? If so, there is no difference.
In most scenarios, there are no differences between normal requests and scheduled requests for the rideshare drivers. The requests come in, and the drivers have the chance to accept. This is because "scheduled rides" is basically a feature that automatically triggers a ride request at the time specified by the user. Nearest drivers in general will receive the requests, and they would respond.

With that said, Uber and Lyft do make attempts to provide better accommodation for these scheduled rides and to prioritize them higher than regular rides. Here are some examples:
- The requests are sent out in advance to the requested time: Before the scheduled trip, if Uber suspects that there aren't many drivers in the area, they will attempt to send out the requests earlier to give drivers a chance to respond.
- Uber displays that the request is a scheduled ride (in some markets): Drivers actually prefer scheduled rides. They are usually longer trips, say to the airport, and the riders took the time to be prepared and are planning for the trip. Therefore, when Uber displays that a request is coming for a scheduled trip, they are more likely to accept them.
- Lyft has a mechanism for drivers to browse the requests - in advance: In the Lyft's driver app, there is a section where drivers can go and view the queue of scheduled rides. The drivers can accept them in advance, essentially vouching that they will be working and be around the requested area. At the time of the trip, these requests are automatically dispatched to the drivers that claimed them. (There are no commitments, except for a potential ding in the acceptance rate. If the driver isn't online or declines the request, it simply goes to the nearest driver.
