If I schedule a ride in advance on Uber, will it still come even if my phone or app is dead, uninstalled, etc? I guess I am asking whether they'll confirm before they come.

No, no confirmation. They will send you notifications as the car is dispatched.
No, Uber will not ask for your confirmation before they dispatch a ride. Hence, yes, the driver will show up regardless of whether your phone is online or turned off.
With that said, if your phone is on, Uber will notify you before the car arrives. If there is surge pricing, they will adjust the fare and notify you beforehand as well.
Also keep in mind that you can cancel until 5 minutes after your scheduled ride is on the way. (More specifically, this is from the time the driver accepts the request and Uber notify you he or she is on the way.)

Yes. Uber will confirm and show up and if you don’t come out and get in the Uber when he or she shows up - you will be charged for a cancellation . So, whosoever books your ride - show up when they are supposed to show up and Good Luck!
