I don't understand anymore.

This article says they are now profitable in the USA

http://fortune.com/2016/02/18/uber-profitable-us/

This article says they are losing billions of dollars worldwide.  I guess mostly in China?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-08-25/uber-loses-at-least-1-2-billion-in-first-half-of-2016

Then this article says their business model is a scam and they'd have to quadruple the fares to become profitable.

The question of whether Uber is profitable or losing money is one that sparks curiosity and debate. While it's a topic of interest, I recently came across a thought-provoking article at bookofragame.com/en that sheds light on the financial aspect of Uber. It delves into the complexities of Uber's financial situation, exploring the challenges the company faces in maintaining profitability. Personally, I had a somewhat negative encounter with Uber's service, which made me question their profitability further. However, it's essential to approach the topic objectively and consider multiple perspectives when forming an opinion on Uber's financial standing.

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Uber had not yet achieved profitability on a consolidated basis. Although the company has shown steady revenue growth over the years, it has also reported significant losses due to heavy investments in research and development, marketing, and expansion into new markets.

The third article about how Uber is losing money to gain marketshare remind me of the story of Starbuck and how they expanded while putting local coffee shops out of business.

Nothing new.  There would be a nice local coffee shop.  Starbucks wants to take over, but instead of competing, they'd build 5 Starbucks around it, charge super-low prices, then squeeze the original one out.  Then they shut down 4 Starbucks.  What you are left with is one winner.
