If I were Uber this would worry me, not only is Lyft gaining market share on Uber but now research is showing that the users who are signing up for Lyft are younger than Uber. To me this says "when kids turn 18 they will more likely get Lyft than Uber" which will be huge for Lyft.

How did Lyft become the cool company? A couple years ago they made their drivers place fuzzy pink mustaches on their cars, lol

Rideshares are not supposed to take on passengers under 18... so I don't exactly get this.

I would actually like to say that this is obvious, but I can't put a finger on why. Perhaps beacuse older people tend to go with the mainstream and something more established.  More of early adopters go with newer challengers.

yeah, I am going with that.

Kids probably see Uber as the app their parents use so they chooses Lyft just to be different. Lyft's marketing team should definitely capitalize on this - special promotions for college kids, etc
