I think it's unacceptable that the trunk not be available for the passengers. Isn't that an expectation that'd be okay to have?
Why don't Uber/Lyft require drivers accepting airport rides to have empty trunks and cargo space?

I think drivers are required to have trunk space available for luggage but I don't think it has to be completely empty. Did you get a driver that had a full trunk? I agree with you, this is part of their job so they should be prepared but I also understand that these are their personal cars.
