If you take a Lyft or Uber ride or do UberEats or something like that, you will be emailed a receipt from them and not from RideGuru. For example, my email said:
Lyft Ride Receipt [[email protected]] for a car ride I took. When you open the email it doesn't exactly look like a receipt but it is. Their email is acceptable as an electronic receipt for IRS tax purposes and counts as a supporting document when reconciling your books if your ride was a business expense. (of course always check with your accountant for advice).
If you need an easier way to keep track of your expenses for your business, there is an app that can import your original receipts for you directly from Lyft, Uber, and more and sync your receipt data with Quickbooks or Xero.
