Free Lyft Rides

In response to Hurricane Ida, Lyft has activated their LyftUp initiative in Louisiana and Mississippi. LyftUp is a Disaster Response program that Lyft has now activated over 25 times since 2017. LyftUp provides access to free and discounted rides for those who need it most.

Currently, LyftUp can be used in Louisiana and Mississippi for riders looking to get a ride to designated shelters and/or critical resources. Rides can be accessed in Baton Rouge, Gulfport, Biloxi, and Jackson using the code IDARELIEF21. Through this code, riders will receive 2 free rides up to $20 in value each. This LyftUp response program is running from now until 09/14 at 11:59 p.m.

Through LyftUp, Lyft partners with leading nonprofits to help provide free and discounted rides to riders who lack affordable, reliable transportation. Some of LyftUp’s main initiatives include helping voters get to the polls, helping low-income households get access to nutritious foods, getting people to work, and helping after natural disasters.

While Lyft has only currently implemented LyftUp in the four cities listed above they have stated on their website that “safety is fundamental to Lyft and we will continue to monitor the area’s conditions and communicate with Lyft drivers, riders, and government officials.  At this time, we’re focused on areas where we’re best able to support riders and drivers. We’ll continue to add locations as we’re able.” Make sure to check back here often to see if any additional areas have been added throughout Mississippi and Louisiana to provide further relief.
