Need to run multiple errands with Uber? Want to request an Uber car for a set amount of time?
In an effort to make ridesharing even more flexible, Uber has recently introduced their new Hourly ride option. Now in select cities in the U.S., you can book an Uber by the hour instead of per trip. With the Hourly Ride Option, riders can easily run errands without having to request a new ride for each leg of their journey. The hourly cost is $50 with mileage caps and overage charges varying by city (see below). The driver will take home $36 while Uber will net the remaining $14. Riders can simply request an Hourly vehicle through the app, as you would when requesting any on-demand ride. Once requested, you will be prompted to send the details of your trip (number of stops, locations, etc) to your driver. With Hourly, you will be matched with an Uber Comfort driver meaning your ride vehicle will be newer and more spacious than a typical Uber X. Hourly rides can currently only be booked in hourly increments up to 7 hours.
Uber has set up certain service areas in which Hourly vehicles can be used, in many instances you cannot use your hourly vehicle to travel to or from certain suburbs. Also, Hourly vehicle are currently not permitted to make airport runs. Hourly is currently available in DC, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Tacoma, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, and Orlando.
As noted above, if you go over your hour time limit you will be charged accordingly:
