Uber is Opening Hubs and Handing Out Covid Supplies (Here is how to claim yours!)

Are Uber Hubs Open? What is Uber doing to ensure driver safety? Can I talk to an Uber representative?

Uber has recently decided to open 33 Greenlight Hubs around the country in order to better distribute Covid-19 safety supplies to its drivers. Uber will be mainly offering face masks to drivers but some hubs have additional supplies available such as safety placards and cleaning products. All products are being given to drivers for free.

For Greenlight hub locations that have opened please visit this help page on Uber or scroll to the bottom of this article. Note that these locations are only open for the purpose of handing out supplies unless “General Support” is marked on a hub location. While in the past, many Hubs would require a driver to make an appointment, that is now not necessary. If your sole purpose is to pick up supplies you can simply head to your hub during any open hours of operation.

In order to protect Hub workers and drivers, Uber has set up certain protocols to ensure a contactless experience when picking up your supplies. Depending on if your Hub allows Drive-Thru pick up or not, here is how your experience will go.

For Drive Thru Pickups

1. When you arrive at your hub location, you will see signs directing you to the correct pick up spot. 
2. When you arrive at the pick up spot, an Uber representative will motion for you to roll down your window. They will then scan your Driver App QR code and hand your supplies through the window. Please have your app open and your QR code for supplies ready.
3. Please note that with drive-thru pickups, Uber asks that you stay in your car during the duration of your visit

For Walk In Pickups

1. Park your car at the Greenlight Hubs parking lot and follow signs to the designated pick up location.
2. When you arrive, you will see tape on the ground measuring 6 feet apart for you to stand on and form a line. If there are no more tape spots available, please stay in your car until a spot opens up.
3. When you get to the front of the line an Uber representative will scan your QR code (please have your app open and your QR code for supplies ready) and hand you your supplies.

If a Hub is not open near you, you can claim your mask in the Driver App. As a reminder, all drivers and riders are currently required to wear a face covering or mask.

To claim your supplies through the Driver App or to find your QR code for in-person pick-up, follow these steps.

1. Open your Uber Driver app
2. Tap on the menu in the upper left to open your settings menu
3. Tap on COVID-19 at the top
4. Then choose “Free health and safety supplies” to see what is available for you
5. From there you can either enter your address to have items shipped to you or choose to pick up your item with your given QR Code at your nearest Hub 

Safety Placards

In addition to masks and cleaning supplies, some drivers have even reported being given a special Covid-19 placard for this car. Harry, The Rideshare Guy shared the below image of one of these placards on his site.

The placard, designed to remind passengers of safety protocols, reads: “Help keep each other safe. We’ve worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to share these tips to help protect you and your driver from COVID-19.” The tips include washing your hands, sitting in the back, opening the window, and covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing. Of course, there is also a nice reminder to “tip your driver”.
