Ok since a few people have wondered about this:
How much does it cost to charge a scooter? Less than you might think. Just to run some rough numbers:
The scooter batteries' capacities are reported to be about 8800mAh at 36V. We can convert this to watt hours: 8800 * 36 / 1000 = 316.8Wh
Electricity costs on average of 12 cents per kilowatt hour (ie. 1000 watt hours) in the US. So, the cost of charging one of these scooters from empty is going to be something like:
(316.8 / 1000) * 12 = 4 cents
It's probably a bit more than that since chargers are not 100% efficient. And, the cost of electricity varies between different locations, so take this with a grain of salt. But it's safe to say the electricity cost of charging these things is not something to worry much about.
Hi,
Can you let me know which addresses you are searching for?
A little late closing the barn door...
Makes sense. Uber and its ilk have simply increased the supply of drivers, law of supply and demand takes over.
That looks like a little over an hour's drive? I've had Uber drivers drive me farther than that. It's a good solid trip for for an Uber driver, I'm sure they'll be glad to take you.
Animal taxi!
I like "Auto-Autos" personally... but no one else I know seems to like it.
They're trying to drive their competitors out of the market with predatory pricing. They think Lyft et al won't be able to keep up. Lyft in turn raises more money and dumps it into lowering their own fares and into new user incentives.
End result is a bunch of investors losing a lot of money, until the industry gets out of this death spiral.
There's no question the business model is sustainable. They're just trying to be shrewd for as long as possible.
Yeah, they don't seem like very smart criminals...
Wow, you have to wonder just where the motivation for fines like that comes from...
Bingo.
I wonder if there is some psychology trick you can play here. Like... put a big picture of a cute puppy on the door, to subconsciously trick people into treating it more gently.
Cars really need a "soft close" option, like Ikea drawers have... That would be nice.
Yeah I think she means a limo service. I went to Kauai a few years go, it's awesome. I believe there is a bus service, but we rented a car so I don't know much about it.
Like everything in Hawaii, taxis are expensive. Renting a car (or van in your case) might be your best bet to be honest. If you have some time you can drive up Waimea canyon all the way to the Kalalau lookout, incredible place.
LA to NYC seems impressive, but then you think about it and realize that it's 3000 miles of highway driving, and like 5 miles of city driving... And highway is the easy thing for auto-autos.
Wait, is it going to stop and fill itself up with gas too?
This is great to read. Frankly I keep wondering how they stay alive in the face of Uber, but they're like the little engine that could. Keep it up, Lyft!
I've seen a couple of posts like this lately. This is really nice and all, but I hope it dosn't become a sort of standard or a de facto requirement for uber drivers. I mean, a snack is nice, but I think we ought to be rating drivers mostly on their ability to get from A to B safely. I don't need them to waste their time thinking about what snacks to get next.
Someone's new to instagram...
This question makes me realize just how hard it is to compete with Uber. I mean, why would anyone use Curb? It's going to be more expensive than Lyft or Uber in many places, and I can't really see any benefits other than having licensed taxi drivers, which frankly is not necessarily an advantage in some places...
That's just awful. At least be an adult and tell her you're not going to take her. Don't just drive away, especially when she's trying to get in the car!
Right, and it assumes that everyone uses them. It's a best-case scenario, but the fact is many people don't want to ride with strangers. I mean, if they did, they'd just take the subway
