Can you select the gender of the operator?
The Guru Take
No, not with Uber and Lyft. However, there are some rideshares where you can.
You are not able to specify the gender of the driver with most services, such as Uber and Lyft. With local taxis and limo companies, you may be able to request one, if you explain to them the situation.
If you want to stick with rideshare companies, there are specific companies that offer this feature. Check out this similar article.
How can I specify a female driver?
Featured Answers
I think you should be able to. I have had a few riders who are happy to see a woman driver. I even had a male who said he would rather have a woman because a male driver may be able to over power a male rider. Some of these young girls pass out from drinking. Some are so drunk that a male driver could do something and she probably wouldnt remember. If these women who got raped had a female than the rape would've never happened. Young women tell me all the time some of their male drivers hit on them some are just creepy make them feel uncomfortable. One young woman said her driver bought her cigs alcohol, and tried to kiss her after ride was over. Women tend not to be criminals, rapist, etc. I would think they wouldnt be hitting on male passengers to the point that the msle rider is uncomfortable. Unfortunately these women who have had these issues dont report driver because they are afraid he will come back to their house.

The thing is it isn't that difficult for Uber to implement this feature on their app. Add it to the preference. Or just call it UberFemale and offer it as a new service.
It must be liability, insurance and laws against discrimination that're stopping them from doing it.

If this happened, all female drivers would be busy 100% of the time. Not saying hats wrong, but if they implemented surge on UberFemale, those female drivers would cost 10x at all times.
Yeah, discrimination wil be an issue. You are discriminating against male drivers on how more work goes to females and against female riders who may need to pay more or have the service be more scarce.

Please don't get me wrong, I absolutely support the idea, however, looking back over the past several decades, everytime people were given "preference" due to their sex, i.e. ladies night, etc., there has always been a disgruntled guy crying that he's been unfairly discriminated against. In an industry dominated by men, I just don't think this is a realistically sustainable option.

Being able to choose only female drivers would do nothing but give us non stop pings from creepers who would just stare or be weird. No thanks.

Being flooded with pings isn't necessarily a bad thing, right? More money! I mean, it won't just be creepers and weirdos. It can even be females looking for safe rides.
Heck, they should employ surge on it too for being in such high demand. Just constant 3x surcharge ALL the time. Talk about promoting more females to drive...
