I get the argument, and a part of me thought this was already happening. When I request an Uber and while I wait, I usually pull up another app with Uber in the background. This means that if I moved, the driver cannot track where I am. If I am walking or whatever, I think this information is very helpful for them. I think it makes sense.
If Uber is only using it for that purpose, I have no issues. However, the fact they CAN track me whereever I go is creepy though. I am sorry to say that Uber hasn't been that trust-worthy of a company.
I think I am on the same boat. Somehow Apple recording every move (all the time) does not bother me as much as Uber recording me.
Yes, Apple tracks every move of yours. so I hear.
I know this is coming from a driver whose moves are tracked 24-7 but this is definitely creepy.
I just don't like that they are banking on us to forget turning the app off, so they can collect more data about us. That's weird, right? It's something we can avoid so the company is just hoping we won't. Something is weird there for me.
I turn my phone off when I am done with my shift (or when I took a ride), but I shouldn't have to take that additional step.
