How do I update my Uber app?

The update should be automatic. Update the app on your smartphone.

The updates should be pushed to your phone as you update the Uber app on your smartphone.  If you are not having luck, it could be one of the following reasons.  These have been reported to us by other drivers who also have yet to receive the newest app.

  • Have you updated the app in the App Store? You need to udpate your app on your smartphone for the new features and user interface arrive.
  • Your smartphone's OS is not current.  You may need to update your phone's operating system in order for the new app to be downloaded.  For example, if you have an iOS device, such as iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, your iOS must be at least 9.0 or later.
  • This is a phased roll out.  Uber, like many features and promotions, are releasing this update to different groups of users at a time.  We have had many drivers mention they have yet to receive the new app. This selection seems random so far.  (It does not seem to be impacted by geography or driver experience like some has uspected.)
