Are they really not accepting any more drivers? Why would Uber turn down drivers? Doesn't that go against the whole idea of on-demand workforce.
Is it true that I can no longer sign up as a Uber or Lyft driver in New York City?

Rideshare driver numbers in NYC were/are capped by the City Council. If you're not already approved you're going to have to wait until they open up hiring again.
