School is about to start and we, as drivers, are about to get inundated with ride requests from children anywhere from 10 years old to 18. Lyft and Uber policy strictly say that we're not supposed to give rides to minors without an adult in the car. Old articles have said it's at the discretion of the driver however I have read in several places that the insurance can try to get out of paying for any injuries that may occur during the ride if the driver is not driving with in accordance to policy. Parents and students alike always say well I've always done this before and never had a problem. To this day I refuse to give a minor a ride unless accompanied by an adult or if said child is in a place where it is dangerous to leave them there. I always have a webcam running inside the car...  which would help with bad behavior on part of the passenger. As a driver I really want to know what happens if there's an accident. Will everybody be covered. It is a pain dealing with these parents sometimes who can get very upset. The last ride share Guru article I found said it was at the discretion of the driver but that was against policy but that was four years ago. I would like to know the specifics now in August of 2019.

DO NOT PICK UP MINORS, THAT'S WHY DRIVERS HAVE A CANCEL ICON. IT'S NOT WORTH THE RISK FOR ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY. IT'S NOT THE DRIVER'S PROBLEM, IT'S UBER'S LYFT'S AND THE IRRESPONSIBLE PARENT'S PROBLEM.

Of course. However lots of drivers do it here. It makes me look like the bad guy. (Not that their opinion matters... I would just prefer to be able to enlighten them a little easier.
