Lyft wants you to "give up car ownership". They will help you sell your car. They paired up with Carvana (car vending machine company)to help you get cash for your car at 'fair value". Lyft will then give you 250.00 in credit to use on their platform when requesting rides along with 3 months free of Lyft Pink subscription. Link to article below.
When you are 12 yrs old you look forward to your 16th Birthday (license), your 18th (adulthood), and 21st (legal drinking age). I remember as a teenager counting down the yrs. until my 16th Birthday. I got my permit, my license, and then my Freedom. I no longer had to ask my boyfriend or my dad to drive me anywhere. I didn't have to walk or take public transportation. I could go wherever I wanted whenever I wanted to.
I loved muscle cars back in the 80's & was so happy to get my license & purchase my 1st car. A 1970 Cutlass 4 barrel & dual exhaust. It was painted matte black (aka black primer lol) and cost me $100.00. We used to go to Atco Raceway on Friday nights. For $5.00 you got to race other street cars all night. We used to go to a deserted area on Saturday nights where everyone would street race (illegally) but still fun.
I cannot imagine life without my own car. There was a time I went without a car for a year. Worse time of my life. Uber and Lyft wasnt around but even if they were I can think of better things to do with my money than using rideshare. Of course rideshare is convenient for many reasons. I just can't understand why you would give up your car only to depend on rideshare (aka other people). I have 4 kids that obviously couldnt use rid…

Uber and Lyft wasnt around but even if they were I can think of better things to do with my money than using rideshare. Of course rideshare is convenient for many reasons. I just can't understand why you would give up your car only to depend on rideshare (aka other people). I have 4 kids that obviously couldnt use rideshare by themselves but picking them up & driving them places using Uber & Lyft would've been costly. My mom never had a license, never drove. To this day she has to get one of us to drive her. It annoys me & my siblings at times and she absolutely hates that she can't drive & has to rely on others.
My car is my freedom to come and go as I please. I dont have to depend on no one, pay anyone to drive me places, or wait on someone to arrive. Like I say when it comes to guns. If the government comes to take my guns you better bring an army & you will have to "pry them from my cold dead hands". Come to take my keys "you will have to pry them from my cold dead hands". Lyft is definitely losing it.

Hasn't this been a goal of Uber and Lyft for quite awhile now?
