I am trying to find a way to get a ride form Salisbury to Boston since I have recent back injury that doesn’t allow me to drive. I did a query for beginning and ending destination and it came up with pricing for a ride share for two. But do I have to find the second person?

Thanks for any help on this.

More detailed info if you are interested:) If not at least read under **Most Important** a few paragraphs diwn in this post.

Prices are based on the ride itself (time, distance, base fare, etc...) The price isnt based on how many riders there are. It doesnt cost extra if you bring people with you just follow guidelines below. You do not need to find riders for pool that is Uber and Lyft's job. Sometimes when you request pool your driver will not get any other riders. Not your problem:) Drivers know that you may just be the only rider even though its pool.

FYI (A few tips that may help)

It is best to briefly read over the Terms of Service. Both apps are similar. The more you know and understand the better off you are IMO.

There is a rating sytem in place for both riders to rate driver and drivers to rate riders.

You can tip on both Uber and Lyft if you would like to. As little as 1.00 or as much as you would like.

You can also add a stop in the app if you need to stop at a mac machine or store (just cant take more than a few min). If a friend is on your way to destination you can add them as a stop.

There are SAFETY FEATURES you should know how to use while using these rideshare services.

    **MOST IMPORTANT**

Once a driver accepts your trip your rider app will tell you the

    Name of your driver

    Profile pic

Make, model, & color of their car

    Their license plate number

PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY MATCH.  WHEN THAT CAR PULLS UP CHECK BEFORE YOU GET IN THAT CAR. IF THINGS DONT MATCH UP DONT GET IN. CANCEL THE RIDE. If they apply a cancel fee you can just message them and tell them what things didnt match. Not trying to frighten you but its best to get into the habit of doing this. If you are in an area where many people are getting picked up it can save you from getting in wrong Uber (someone elses) or getting into a car thats not even an Uber.

The driver should ask for your name & who your driver is?

Uber Pool & Lyft Shared - ride by yourself or you can bring 1 person or a piece of luggage. Uber and Lyft may assign more people to that drivers car but doesnt change your price.

Uber X and Lyft - Ride by yourself or bring up to 3 people with you. That is your personal ride no other riders will be added by Uber and Lyft. You can also bring luggage or bags with you.

UBber & Lyft XL - ride by yourself or bring up to 5 more people with you.  This is good if you have a group or a few pieces of luggage.

There is also Uber Black and Uber Black SUV these 2 are higher end cars or SUV's, "professional drivers", but costly.

Just a side note if you have a child that needs to be in a car safety seat or booster please bring one with you. Its against Uber, Lyfts, terms of service and against the law. Minors (under 18 yrs) cannot ride without an adult going in the car with them.

The passenger count is simply the max occupancy of passengers that the car can hold. You do not have to find the extra people, you can simply ride by yourself :)

also keep in mind that the cost is per ride not per person!

Price is per car. You can take it by yourself.

Are you talking about Uber? Uber Pool allows just you or you & 1 other person (friend/relative)to ride for the price given. Uber X allows you and 3 (friends/relatives) other people to ride for the price given.  The price for an Uber or Lyft is for you and if you have others in your party. The price is not based on how many riders. If you should choose Uber Pool or Lyft Shared just know there is a possibility Uber & Lyft will add other riders (strangers) to the car your in. Price will not change for your ride but it will add more time to get to your destination. Even if you are picked up 1st you may be dropped off last. Unless you really need to save those few dollars I dont suggest pool or shared for many different reasons. Safety being one of them. Your driver has a background check riders are not. If you have any other questions feel free to reply.
