I'm a little skeptical companies would go that low, but maybe if there is enough competition this could actually happen.

Express Pool already is 75% cheaper than todays rideshare.
Next few years? And why does this say 80 and 50
"The shift towards electric and autonomous vehicles, combined with intensifying competition, should reduce the fee charged to passengers by as much as 80 percent compared to today," the authors of the report said Friday.
"Within the next few years, the technology will be available to make robotaxis a reality. In this new paradigm, owning a private car will cost almost twice as much as using robotaxis."
God help us all.
Thr driver recruitment, retention and payment is the single largest cost for a rideshare company. The rest is just maintaining software, processing payments and advertising. I can totally see 80% reduction happening.
If they get that cheap, traffic is going to be horrendous. God help us.
Are you saying because people will use it more? Like switch from public transportation
Once people driven cars are replaced, we will be fine. No more accidents. No more awkward drivers riding brakes. No more cars parked on the side of the road (which frees up a lane). There are factors that will mitigate traffic. I have faith this will eventually solve traffic problems.
80% cheaper?! At that point there really would be no point in owning your own car. I mean does that even cover gas?
Everyone thinks this is right around hte corner but I bet it is stil la solid 10-15 years out.
Can we do something about the "robotaxi" thing? It sounds super lame. This is our opportunity to come up with a cool way and we are messing it up.
