Both questions depend on the type of service you are looking to take. Most rideshare services do not accept cash payments, while a lot of taxis do. As for your second question, if you order any service besides UberPool and LyftLine, you will not be obligated to share the ride with any other passengers. These are the carpooling services both companies offer. You can bring up to 3 other people total in the car with you for a standard ride, but if you choose to ride alone, you will not be paired with another rider.
