We always hear the bad things about Uber drivers or the bad things riders do. Do you have any good stories you can share about a driver or rider?

I was commenting on the forum last night and started thinking about all the complaining I do about riders & sometimes drivers:) I decided to post this. I have more good rides then bad. I have met some really decent, kind, and generous riders on my trips. As much as notes & badges on Uber dont pay the bills I appreciate the kind notes & compliments I receive:) They are nice especially on days that you have terrible trips. I wish Uber would allow drivers to leave a compliment or note. A personalized thank you for those that tip.

Sorry to start with a complaint as this was supposed to be positive. Telling the bad to make a point. How 1 person can make it a good day or ruin it.  Early Sunday I pick up a woman at an Amazon wharehouse. She texts me in Spanish I have no clue what it says. I am following GPS on the way out & she directs me a different way. I come to exit she says nothing & waits until I turn to say "wrong way". I explained GPS routed me & apologize. It took me 20 secs to make a U turn. I get her to destination 3 min up the road. My rating finally went from a 4.95 to a 4.96 last week to a 4.97 on Fri. I knew that wouldnt last:) An hr later my rating is back to a 4.96, a 1star, GPS report, & 499 more trips to lose that 1 star. If I made her late or got lost for 5/10 min I could understand but seriously 1 star for a turn that resulted in an aditional 20 secs? I so wish those who rate drivers low for minor issues would have the same rating system at their job. Maybe I should've 1 starred her for texting me in Spanish when my profile clearly says I speak English only. So now I am in a pissy mood.

I get my next …

I get my next trip. Pick up a male (34) who gets in with a big smile and a cheery "good morning how are you"? He works at EWR airport in the control tower & this was his 1st Uber ride. We talked about everything and anything & laughed the whole 52 min trip. At the end he offered me a $20 cash tip & asked if that was enough? I said it was more than enough, thanked him, & declined it. I then thanked him for his service (in the Airforce) & told him it had been my pleasure to take him to work. Few minutes later I get $20 tip on the app, 5 stars, and a note "Monica, thank you again for the excellent service, great conversation, you were awesome". Tip was very generous & appreciated.  He took the time to text a little note. It's those types of trips of why I like driving $2 tip or no tip. He was just a genuinely nice, respectful, sweet guy. Again most trips are good & most people are decent. I have many more good stories, met many nice interesting people that made my day just by talking & listening to them. World would be a better place if people would choose to smile, be positive, & be kind. Much easier to be nice then to be a rude miserable  a$$. Treat people they way you want to be treated. Try it you may like it:)

That one rider or driver (trip) can make or break your day. Just 1 person can change how your day starts or how it ends. Please share a happy/good story.

I had a customer once who worked at Panera. I was dropping her off for a shift and she asked for my order and brought me a free Panera lunch after I dropped her off in the parking lot. The best food is free food!

Great Topic! One time my phone died right after I requested an Uber and unfortunately I wasn't in a great part of the city (and my pickup location was a bit confusing) but my Uber driver made it and did not complain at all about the confusion! In fact he could tell I was visibly "freaked" and made such an effort to make me feel comfortable. He showed me his app so I could verify he was in fact my driver (as my phone was dead!) and he immediately gave me a phone charger. I was grateful for his kind demeanor when I was in a bit of a rut.

Thanks. Nice to hear some good positive stories instead of the negative. Thankfully most of mine are good with the occassional bad or annoying one. There are some decent, kind, good drivers out there. Other drivers dont get we are providing a service that people are paying for. Some riders get crazy but some drivers are just ridiculous. The mentality is "my car my rules". Some drivers take that just a little too far:)

I once had a driver tell me that I was an incredible mom. Moms need to hear this more often! Made my day and I still think about that when times get tough.
