My daughter went out with her BF & a few friends Saturday night to celebrate her upcoming birthday. My daughter calls at 1:15am to ask if I am in the area (nothing new). I tell her no & tell her to call an Uber. The 3 females phones are dead and her BF tried to order one but Uber said "his credit card was associated with too many accounts". I get the address of where they are and where they are going. Once the ride is accepted I text the driver tell him he is picking up my daughter and give him her name, I tell him I am driver & will tip him once ride is over.  I see he picked them up & I can also see that you can rate & tip the driver why the ride is still in progress. Knew Lyft started that but wasnt aware Uber did. I wasnt accepting rides during this time in the event there were any issues. Wanted to tip driver asap so he didnt think i was one of those people that say "i'll tip you in the app" and dont. I start to text my daughter when I get a text from her that the "driver is going to kill us". One of the girls was upfront and the driver decided he wanted to show her something on his phone while they were driving. During this time he went through 2 red lights. WTH! The girl up front tried to communicate with driver about him going through lights but he told them when they first got in "I dont speak English". I am sure he probably didnt even realize he went though the lights as he was distracted. At no time should any driver have their phone in their hand looking for something to show their passenger while you are driving the car. Her friend is very pretty and driver was a male maybe he was trying to…

Her friend is very pretty and driver was a male maybe he was trying to impress her. Who knows. I ordered an Uber so my daughter and her friends got to where they had to go safely. Not to have some idiot distracted driving and blowing through red lights. Thankfully at that time of morning although they were on a busy road traffic is light. The 2 lights were less than 90 seconds to destination.  I have taken an Uber once, I've ordered Uber for my daughter in law approx 5X and my daughter 3X. I have never had any issues with these drivers and all were tipped well, rated 5 stars, and given a compliment. My daughter always takes Uber on weekends and has never rated a driver under 5 stars or ever complains about her drivers. As long as she gets from Point A to Point B she is happy. I felt bad as told driver I would tip him but no way in hell was he getting one after that. As a driver I hate to give the driver less than 5 stars & report him but this is not a dirty car, bad odor, no AC its a safety issue. Was this just that one time he did this? Does he do it other times? I would like to hear some feedback from riders and drivers. What would you do in this situation?

As a driver, I have no remorse for rating a dangerous driver or a garbage smelling mechanically dangerous car a bad rating. Putting peoples lives at risk. Every person they give a ride to will consider not getting an Lyft/Uber ever again after their ride. Get them off the road. Just be sure they deserve a 1 before you give it. Wrong car, Wrong pic, DO NOT GET IN, and report. NO EXCUSES. Don't speak English? That is what google translate is for.

I spoke with daughter and her 3 friends. They all seen him go through the red lights. They all seen him with phone in hand trying to show their friend something on his phone. The friend that was upfront asked him to put the phone back on mount. The 2 lights were less than a minute from destination.  I gave him a 1 star and did report it Uber. I did feel bad but he put my child, her friends, and other cars on the road in danger. Does he do this often? How many other times has he done it? I seen his rating was a 4.80. I should have requested another driver as there were 8 in the area. I was in a rush. However when I pulled up the trip the next day he was at a 4.79. Dont know if the 1 star I gave him  caused it to drop. Uber sent back a message that they will review the trip and gave me $5.00 Uber cash. I dont care about that. That doesn't make it all better. I just hope they look into this properly. The email started with "sorry for the inconvenience". It should&…

It should've started with sorry this driver put your family in danger:) The whole thing with him not speaking English was strange. I texted him to let him know he was getting my daughter not me. I gave him her name. He answered back. My daughter said "mom if he cant speak English why was his GPS in English"? Lol He obviously could read  English if he was searching on his phone to show her friend something because she dont understand russian. I think he probably pulls the non english speaking so he dont have to talk to riders if he dont want to:) I guess I just needed to hear other drivers would do the same thing:) Thanks for responding, appreciate it.

They are adult children. As I said in my post 3 of their phones were dead and her bf had an issue with his account on Uber. In the past year I have ordered 2 for my daughter. Five for my daughter in law. My son and his wife were getting back on their feet after my son was in and out of the hospital with heart issues and unable to work.
