Here is how many passengers can travel in each Uber service

How many people can fit in an Uber? If you have 4 passengers, should you order an UberX or an UberXL? 

Figuring out the perfect ride for your group can be challenging. You want to make sure the car your order has plenty of room for all passengers to sit comfortably but ideally you also do not want to pay more for a larger vehicle that you may not need!

Take a look below to learn the maximum number of riders allowed in various Uber and Lyft services as well as the recommended maximum luggage amount.

The Standard Economy Rides

Includes: Uber X, Uber Pop, Uber Go, Lyft

	Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry, Ford Escape, Ford Escort
	The maximum passenger capacity for UberX and Lyft is 4 people.
	Trunk space for 2-3 large suitcases or 3-4 medium/small suitcases. If you have fewer passengers you could also fit extra luggage in the cab.

The XL Rides

Includes: UberXL, Lyft Plus

	Toyota Highlander, Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Dodge Durango
	The maximum passenger capacity for UberXL and Lyft Plus is 6 people.
	If there are 4 or less passengers (this allows 3rd row of seating to be folded down), you can fit 4-5 large suitcases or 5-6 medium suitcases. If you have a party of 6 you will only be able to fit 2-3 medium suitcases behind the 3rd row.

The Shared Rides

Includes: Uber Pool, Lyft Line

	Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry, Ford Escape, Ford Escort
	The maximum passenger capacity for Uber Pool or Lyft Line is 2. There may be up to 4 people in the car but you are only allowed 2 of the seats with shared services.
	With shared rides you need to be aware that your car may be picking up other passengers along your route who also have items to place in the car/trunk. For this reason, you should limit yourself to one piece of luggage when taking a shared ride.

The Luxury Rides

Includes: Uber Black, Uber Lux, Lyft Premier, Uber Select

Luxury rides can be tricky to estimate the amount of space as the luxury vehicle you get may be either a sedan or an SUV. A good rule of thumb is to assume you will receive a sedan unless you order a luxury SUV service such as Uber SUV or Lyft Lux SUV (see below).

	Lincoln Towncar, Chevy Tahoe, Mercedes 500 series or larger, BMW 5-7 Series, Range Rover
	The maximum passenger capacity for Uber Black or Lyft Premier is 4 people.
	Trunk space for 2-3 large suitcases or 3-4 medium/small suitcases. If you have fewer passengers you could also fit extra luggage in the cab.

The SUV Luxury Rides

Includes: Uber SUV and Lyft Lux SUV

	Cadillac Escalade, Toyota Sequoia, Lincoln Navigator, GMC Yukon
	The maximum passenger capacity for Uber SUV and Lyft Lux SUV is 6 people.
	If there are 4 or less passengers (this allows 3rd row of seating to be folded down), you can fit 4-5 large suitcases or 5-6 medium suitcases. If you have a party of 6 you will only be able to fit 2-3 medium suitcases behind the 3rd row.
