Digital (fake-able) license plates finally hit the road in California
Here's a great way to fake out those cops chasing you. or to avoid getting parking tickets. A fake-able digital … -
The Uber price didn't change, even after instructing the driver to take a different route. It should have been cheaper as the route I suggested was shorter and quicker.
People want to get their exerecises in the city.
I am all for this business to take off, but I do see some challenges. I think there'd be a huge overhead in keeping the equipment in check. There would have to be employees collecting these vehicles all over the city and re-distributing them to places. Some will sure go missing. Some will be broken or get into accidents.
It's only accelerated when Uber came aroudn. It is illegal for taxi drivers to discriminate against their passengers, but since Ubers are independent contractors, I heard they are even worse at discriminating.
Plus, they can cancel rides with a press of a button. They can cancel a ride the moment they see you.
Lyft is so shameless. Just "matches" it. I get it that's their business model, but they don' teven try to hide it. That bothers me a bit.
This article is kinda irresponsible. It spews all these concerns and never fully explain what the drivers can do and see. Can someone elaborate on what the drivers an see?
btw, I totally get it that Uber as a company has to keep track and store all transaction history even after the account has been deleted. So the rub is that the drivers can see it, right?
It's the whole Starbucks tactic. Build a store right next to an existing and successful coffee shop to compete. Advertise it nationally then make the coffee half as much. Run crazy promotions.
Run that for 6~12 months. Let the famous coffee shop that was there for 35 years close its doors.
Then end all promotions, jack up the prices, and let the millenials spend $7 on a latte.
What a tactic. Uber initially set the prices of rides VERY low to undercut taxi companies. Now that the taxi industry is in shambles, they decide to raise the fares to whatever they want.
Soon, I am sure Uber will be more expensive than taxis. Why wouldn't they, right? They dominate the market now.
Uber's taxi takeover has been completed successfully. Congratulations!!!!
Someday once Uber offers UberPickupTrucks, a service dedicated for moving small furniture, I will sign up for Uber with my Tacoma.
I think I get it. The city wants to penalize Uber by raising their prices (which makes sense because they've always hated Uber) but they are doing it in the name of helping out the Uber drivers. Is that right?
it doesn't look like the Uber car attempted to stop at all. I have to say, I think a human driver would have been able to at least make a reaction.
This woman driver was obviously on the phone. Looking down, trying to avoid that interior camera she knows is there.
How can this be cost effective? To users, we feel it should be cheaper as they are only delivering a package or pizza or whatever, but for drivers, it's still the same drive. In fact, it may be worse as they need to potentially park and actually deliver it on the other end.
Do drivers really care for this?
parents love them. You get to know where they are, literally through GPS, can track their expenses, and no cash needed. Sounds like an ideal solution to me.
Well, no. The most does not go back to the driver. The drvers only make 12/hour.
...and, yes, as others have mentioned, the company is NOT making money.
How do I get my hands on those now that this promotion is over?
I've seen my drivers check their "other apps" looking for their next rides. They are trying to minimize downtime, so they are trying to look for their next passenger. It makes sense to me. They can't do that if only using one app.
I'd totally order one but I'd like to get to work without my legs being chopped off.
This question smells of illegal activities going on.
Reminds me of the razor blade in apples on a Halloween story.
How do you kick someone out of a Lyft? Is there a button or something on the driver app.
Uber hackers. Russian meddlers. What's new?
Who prints those senior citizens vouchers? Cities? I don't know how they work.
