Uber commissions capped at 25%, no upfront pricing, exact destination on each trip before accepting a ride, old surge multiplier is back, no AR restrictions etc.

Uber is Making Big Changes in California for Drivers! Is all this due to CA AB5?
I welcome these changes over the past month culminating with commission caps at 25%, showing destination, bringing the old surge …
They never will pay the driver more.
Renting an Uber scooter costs 30 cents a minute almost nationwide, UBER X drivers get paid 21 cents a minute in Los Angeles. Sure scooters are worth more than drivers. I guess they figured they own the scooters.
Los Angeles is going to do the same thing shortly, require business licenses and registration for drivers. https://therideshareguy.com/los-angeles-city-council-looking-to-regulate-uber-and-lyft-drivers/
Did you ever trust the politicians?
25% on a good day
That's for booked hours, meaning from the time you accept a ride to ending the ride. If you consider wait time, cruising, deadmiles it literally drops by 50%. That's the only way they can sell it. For me the best metric is take your gross income, devide it by door to door hours. You'll see where you stand, that's again gross earnings before expenses.
Bored teenagers probably hacked into those scooters, no way they paid for the joy ride 😆
E-scooters maybe?
I sure hope you're joking about accepting every ride. I worked today, my acceptance rate was under 20%. Here's my numbers, it always quality over quantity.
Her brother in law is Tony West, chief council for Uber. Hope you know that!
Definitely, I get them all the time, they do have a distance limit though, so if you get pinged, you know it's a shortie.
I was going to say smoke it but all kidding aside, dump them unless the rider was a gang member, they may come looking for the merchandise. 😆
Taxi were the competition only for the first couple of year, now Uber has much bigger problems like Lyft in the U.S., Ola, Grabb, Bolt amd many more around the globe. They're all in a race to the bottom. As per Uber's last conference call which I listened to, Uber CEO believes their main competition is car ownership, what a fool!
Absolutely, they may even tip you, just relax, be yourself, learn some strategies to increase your earnings and if you can find a veteran mentor, great. Good luck and be safe out there.
The dollars you're getting for the hours you drive is amazing. Top .5% of drivers in the country. Hang in there!
The trend is not your friend in this case. Drivers can't do anything about it because of their IC status and are fragmented. It's not possible to get them under one roof to coordinate strikes/protests. Ab5 will give rights to unionize but time will tell how U/L will retaliate, if what Lyft is doing in NY is a sign of things to come, it's not good for the driver.
Read some of the other posts with the new Lyft rate cards around the country, unconscionable!
I'd give you a ride, better than a shedding dog that wouldn't sit down in my back seat.
Yeah, second time it has happened, I bet half of them were hacked. About 200-300 riders taking over the streets, endangering themselves and others around them. LAPD was called to disburse and confiscated bunch of scooters.
Pool, express pool and shared rides on Lyft is the culprit. Everyone is getting off the bus and into a car.
By this retaliation, they're admitting that they had oversaturated the marketplace, the platform is functional and more efficient with a lower driver head count. Who decided to oversaturate the market, U/L did but the drivers pay the price.
