Uber commissions capped at 25%, no upfront pricing, exact destination on each trip before accepting a ride, old surge multiplier is back, no AR restrictions etc.

Uber is Making Big Changes in California for Drivers! Is all this due to CA AB5?
I welcome these changes over the past month culminating with commission caps at 25%, showing destination, bringing the old surge …
My car my rules, I'm an IC.
GTFO and automatic 1*
GTFO and 1*, it's the right thing to do under certain circumstances
They'll be Roadkill 😆
That's what Wall Street is about these days, no one cares about the bottom line, it's all about top line growth, look at these scooter unicorns. 😆
I wouldn't buy either with your money. In fact I shorted Lyft when it went public and got pumped, made more money in couple of weeks than I would make in a month of driving.
He didn't invent anything, didn't even write the code. Go read Hubert Horan an expert in the transportation industry.
But I heard he created a new app called BrokeAssDrivers but it keeps crashing. On the positive side, he said he'll rent half his 16 rooms and half his 22 bathrooms to Uber drivers.
😆😂😂
In a two square mile area, there must be at least 1200-1500 e-scooters and bikes on all the platforms combined. Summer is here in Los Angeles, peak season for these units.
They’ll show up, don’t worry and when they do it’ll be in mass. Since you can’t ride them on the sidewalk, they’re initially being tested in cities with a lot of bike paths. There’s also a seasonality factor, I don’t think anyone will ride a scooter when it’s rainy or snowy in Boston.
Agree and Messi, different football 😆
I concur, have your plan B ready, it's not worth dealing with pax for 60 cents a mile. Thankfully we still have surge, not the flat rate crap. This was last night for solid 3 hours or more.
I used to drive full time, cherry pick surge rides all day, know all the tricks on the book. I used drive 40 plus hours a week, do about 70-80 rides, gross 2300-2500 a week by shits and giggles. Now I'm down to 10 hours a week max and that's just to write for RSG. I still average 30+ because I know my city, surge patterns by heart, it's all about positioning. I've had 20% AR since I started on both platforms. Good to talk to you, keep in touch!
I used to pound Harry as a commentator on his articles. Our exchanges are epic, he kicked me off his site but at the same time tried to get me to write for him for two years. He's changed his time a lot. I did a podcast last month with him and now write weekly articles, check them out. I wouldn't sell my soul for money to Harry and definitely not U/L.
Here's the latest one from the Lyft protest couple of days ago.
https://therideshareguy.com/drivers-participate-in-lyft-flash-protest-against-ppz/
Don't fall for U/L coercion tactics, AB5 has nothing to do with flexibility. I've read the law. I don't know how long you've been driving and what the rates are in your city but can't be much higher than L.A., 60/21. But if you like the trend and biannual rate cuts, disappearing quests, consecutive streaks, PPZ, flat rate surge, then support U/L. I've been driving both for a lot longer than I care for. Here's some numbers, when UBER x started on July 4, 2013, the rates were $5 to drop and $3.75 a mile, where are we now?
I don't like government being involved in anything myself and don't want to be their employee but the steam roller has to be checked, if AB5 is the deterring factor, so be it. Go read about it.
Yeah, dime a dozen, they all are new driver aggregator sites. The only thing I know is that I'm a drivers advocate, bring on AB5.
Just because we can do it doesn't mean we need it.
I posted some pictures from Santa Monica, CA, take a look at them. It's ridiculous.
Microcomputing stuck 😆
Saw a nasty accident the other day. It's definitely something drivers need to pay attention to.
Roadkill 😆
Pax don't know how they're getting ripped off. Actually to win the battle, as driver groups, we need to educate the pax.
Tipping? What's that, they wouldn't tip you but throw a 5 to the bartender who pops their beer.
Lyft's percentage take rate is up to 70% on a lot of rides, it was crazy last night in Los Angeles. Uber was surging 5x while Lyft was charging 400 PT to the pax without passing it on. I have more screenshots than I care for.
RP's business model is based upon driver referrals mostly, which is hurting existing drivers but he's also a fleet owner. What's your affiliation with him?
RSG, the Rideshare Guy. Full disclosure, I write for that blog as well as Rideguru. Better information, largest weekly Podcast channel regarding the rideshare industry and the largest YouTube channel. Check it out.
Good luck with GOAT, he'll need it. AB5 is enough to take these companies to task, unless U/L ends up buying bunch of politicians.
