Gosh, 12? Coordinate with other parents and carpool. Works well. Hasn't changed much since the 60s.
Would you really trust a stranger? Forget the background checks. Drivers swap accoutns all the time.
Traditional Ridesharing is not designed for child safety. Uber and Lyft's terms and conditions specify you must be 18 or over to use the service, and minors must travel accompanied by an adult.
