Can an Uber driver cancel the ride and kick out a passenger mid ride?
The Guru Take
Yes, they can.
If there is a good reason, say a rider being unruly, drunk and/or violent, the drivers can and are encouraged to pull the car over, and terminate the trip immediately. The driver would basically pull over and swip the "End Trip, " effectively completing the trip and charging the customers.
The passenger may leave a negative feedback, but the safety should always take priority over one negative feedback. Also, the driver can provide feedback to Uber and have such a rating can be removed. (The drivers have had mixed experience with Uber's responses, but your safety first!)
Additional data point:The safety of the passenger is important as well. Here's a story where a passenger was kicked out of a ride on a highway. He ended up being struck by another car and killed.
Comments
Not to knitpick, but if the ride has already started, the driver isn't *cancelling* the trip. He is simply *completing* the trip.
so smart, yet so not helpful.
This is a bit similar to this thread:
As a driver, have you kicked out a passenger? Ended a ride early mid-trip?
