Yes, you can specify within the app. But only limited to 2.
Yes, you can specify how many people are in the group, when you select Lyft Pool. You would do this right before you click on "Request Line" to dispatch a request.
It's important to keep in mind, that you are only allowed to bring ONE additional person. Here's a quote from Lyft:
"It's extremely important that you stick with just one or two riders and accurately choose the number of people in the app. If you do not follow this protocol, the driver will be prompted to cancel your ride upon arrival."

Thank you for this post. I feel like Lyft does just enough to hide this fact that you can bring a friend. We talked about this among my frieds, but we all said, "ah, whatever. why bother."
