Can Uber/Lyft drivers put bumper stickers on their vehicles? Maybe political ones?
The Guru Take
Generally yes. Must pass local laws and inspection requirements.
Since you are an independent contractor and the car is in your name (is it?), you have flexibiilty in what you can do with your car. In general, yes, bumper stickers are allowed.
Few things to keep in mind:
- Local laws and inspections: Any markings on your vehicles must pass inspection and comply with local laws. Check with RMV.
- Uber's vehicle requirements: Uber states that your car cannot have "commercial branding." A bumper sticker should not violate this rule, but if you are not sure, you may want to check with Uber directly. (Remember, in some cities, every car has to go through an Uber dictated inspection.)
Whether you want to put a political or highly opinionated bumper sticker is up to you. Many drivers seem to stay away from this practice, in order to not make the ratings biased. You'd hate to receive negative ratings only because your political view differs from your customer's.

With Trump acceptance rating at 39% and considering for the hatred the other 61% would have, I'd stay away from putting Trump 2020 sticker. You will end up with 61% 1-star and 39% 5-stars. That won't keep you in business. sorry.
That’s if you believe fake polls my riders love Trump Train🚂🚂🚂 #MAGA🇺🇸
what's the "real" polls say?
That's why you carry two stickes. One for Hilary in the blue states and another for Trump for the red states.
I have a sticker on my car that is a campaign photo of Ted Cruz with the caption, "This man ate my son"...if that offends people, great.
LOL. Well, when it's funny, everything is alright with the world.
