Last winter I drove a Ford Focus which was awful in the snow. I was able to put my Honda Pilot on the road over the summer since vehicles can now be 15 yrs or newer to drive for Lyft/Uber. I received an email today asking me if I want to drive for Lyft's Snow Team because I have an snow equipped vehicle. Just had to click join nothing else. In return Lyft will email me when I am needed on the road. Email also stated drivers will be eligible for potential perks, higher earnings (and potential bonuses), special events, prizes, and rewards. I dont drive Lyft very much at all. When Uber offers things it always comes with a price, catch, or its worthless in the end. Just curious is Lyft the same way? Has anyone received this same email? Has anyone enrolled in this before? If yes, what were the perks, were earnings worth it, etc..?
Has any drivers out there received an Email to join Lyft's Snow Team? Your thoughts? Was this around last year or is it new?

I drive a Mazda sedan, drove in snow, demand is huge but driving is tougher and you can only maybe do two rides per hour as it is a lot slower. I did not feel it was worth it due to difficult driving conditions. Took a guy from Southampton PA to Newark airport, was probably the only car on the road, driving 15 miles per hour on NJ turnpike, asked him to see if flight was still on midway through trip, it was indeed cancelled so I drive him back home;)
AWD Is definitely a plus. I never received such Snow emails but that is because I drive a regular sedan ;)
Not to mention the risk you are taking by being on the road in a treacherous conditions.
They are starting to get real weird about keeping drivers on the road. Whatever happened to the classic supply-and-demand model where they controlled the # of drivers through surges.
I miss those simpler times.
Wo, I had no idea this was a thing. Can you copy the email here? Super interested.
Snowed here today in Philly. Whole city surged with Uber. All Lyft was offeting wss 16.00 extra for 4 consecutive rides. Ubers offers were better. See what happens next storm.
I assume you need an SUV, 4 wheel drive. I obviously never received it when I drove my Ford Focus.:)
