    HI,

I think you are getting scammed.  Here Uber will not gouge prices due to bad weather or situations.  I have driven in very bad conditions thinking I would be rewarded. (Snow and Ice.)  It was quite the opposite.  In fact, I found out they were charging the customers extra and not passing it on to me.  Never again - out of principle.  I am used to snow and ice, but it is dangerous where I live because we do not get it often here and there are hundreds of wrecks.   It is too much risk.   One accident and I could be out of a job for weeks.

I agree with everything you said except for the ‘gouging’ comment. ( See My thread about driving in extreme weather, please.)

I have no intention on taking Lyft at their word. I was just curious if anyone ever did sign up and actually get any bonus. Uber surges here in Philly in bad weather. I did drive in one storm.  Never again. Got the surge but long pick up fee was miscalculted and pd based on normal.weather conditions. I sent emails but Uber customer service is A. staffed with a bunch of idiots who dont understand english, B. are told by Uber to play dumb C. receive a commission if they screw driver out of $,  or D. really are stupid and illiterate of course it could be all of the above. Never again. I agree not worth the risk.

They probably sent the snow message to drivers in the Caribbean ! (Sorry, couldn’t resist!) Never got one where I am.

WHAT? This is nothing I expected. I thought it was a way for them to pay us more if we went out there during the snow. It's for a "snow-ready car?"

I don't even understand why they would do this as a business?  Encourage SUV owners to drive for Lyft more? but none of us even knew about it.

        Thanks for posting this.

I never heard of it either. I assume it depends on the type of vehicle you drive. Last year had Ford Focus. Put my Honda Pilot on road this year. I assume since its a good vehicke to get through snow (4 wheel SUV) that is why they sent it to me.

I got the email back in October. I signed up. Obviously not expecting anything. They said bonus, perks, etc... I would hear from them when needed so far nothing.  I've recently got an email again offering bonuses in bad weather. Still havent actually seen anything. Although we havent had too many bad storms. Keep me posted if you get anything during a storm.
