How do female Uber drivers stay safe?
The Guru Take
Tips
Here are some to begin with:
- Be vigilant
- Be mindful of the hours you work.
- Be mindful of the areas you drive.
- Be mindful of where the authorities are available, e.g. police station or populated areas.
- Make sure to use the app at all times, so GPS is on and tracking your location.
- Use dashcams that record the inside of the car.
- Avoid pickups in secluded areas, such as alleys, warehouses, dark areas away from the road, etc.
- Ensure your car has plenty of gas and is in a good working condition.
- Let someone know of your shifts and when you are driving.
- If uncomfortable, feel free to cancel the ride.
- If uncomfortable, call a friend and keep the line open.

You forgot tasers, rape whistles, weapons, etc.
Install a engine cut off switch and carry a can of raid.
Wait why an engine cut off switch? In case a female driver's car gets hijacked?
Thanks. Do Raids work as pepper spray? The pepper sprays (and also tassers) are illegal where I live, so that might be a good alternative. You might be joking, but hey, it may do the trick.
This is a tough one, because you don't know when you are being called to when you accept a ride. The same is true with the destination as Uber no longer displays it on the app. (and the passenger can always change his or her mind.)
Perhaps only working during the days may be best if you are worried.
