Does it matter how many months until we don't mind being picked up self-driving cars?
No, uber gives no shit? I guess that's not a surprise.
The real question is... will their rates go down as a result?
well, overal, yeah, it should. The whole reason Uber is investing in Autonomous Vehicle is to eliminate their drive expense. Sure, they are spending billions on developing these new cars, but the economy scale will take over, and then...
Well, not quite. Remember they are losing money by subsidizing every ride. They do this for the growth. So, even when they start eliminating driver expenses, they first wouldn't mind making profits first...right?
They are already cheap and dominating the market. No need to further lower the cost.
