How to Use an Uber Gift Card

Uber gift cards are available all across the U.S. at over 35,000 locations in chains like CVS, Target, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Kroger, but they are also available online through Uber, Amazon, or GiftCards.com. The minimum value that can be purchased is $25 but you can also purchase up to a $200 value. Purchasing through Uber allows you to buy a physical card or a customizable digital gift card. 

Using an Uber gift card on the app is simple. The card can be used anywhere in the country where the card was purchased and you can use the card towards Uber rides or UberEats. Unfortunately, you cannot currently use your Uber gift card on Family Profiles or Scheduled Rides. To activate your Uber gift card, follow the below steps

1. Open the Uber app.
2. Tap on the menu (The three short lines in the upper left hand corner of the app).
3. Choose the Payment option.
4. On the payment screen there is an option for "Add Promo/Gift Code".
5. Enter in the gift card code with no spaces. 
6. If the gift card does not cover the total cost of the ride, you will be prompted to add another gift card or payment option.  

Once you have entered the gift card information, the app will subtract any rides from the gift card by default until the total value of the gift card has been used. If you don’t want to use the gift card to pay for a ride you can do so by making the distinction before ordering the Uber ride by:

1. Entering your destination.
2. At the bottom of the screen, tap on the credit card information.
3. Tap "change payment option".
4. Turn off Uber Credits by toggling the option. Please note this will only turn off using your gift card for that particular ride.

Uber gift cards are a great way to treat a person you care about or say thank you. It is a unique present with multifunctional purposes and is incredibly helpful in people’s day to day lives.
