Yesterday, Uber announced the launch of their new loyalty program and we have all the details for you, including how to sign up and what rewards you can expect!
First, it is important to note that Uber Rewards membership is free! Uber rewards has four tiers: Blue, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. You are placed into a tier depending on how much money you have spent on Uber rides and Uber eats over the past 6 months. The dollar amount you spend on “Uber Goods” is converted into points which determines your tier and rewards. See below for a cheat sheet on the point totals needed for each tier as well as “dollar to point conversions”.
Blue Level | Below 500 Points |
Gold Level | Between 500 and 2,499 points |
Platinum Level | Between 2,500 to 7,499 points |
Diamond Level | Above 7,500 points |

Use the below table to see how many dollars you need to spend on each service to accumulate points. For instance, for every $1 you spend on an Uber Pool ride you receive 1 reward point.
Service | Dollar Amount Spent | Points |
UberPool, Uber Eats | $1 | 1 Point |
Uber X, UberXL, UberSelect, UberWAV | $1 | 2 Points |
UberBlack, UberSUV | $1 | 3 Points |
All Uber Rewards members will get a $5 credit for every 500 points they earn, no matter their membership level. This $5 credit can be used on Uber rides or for Uber Eats.
With Gold Status, members get the additional perk of being able to cancel and rebook a ride within 15 minutes (instead of the usual 2 minutes) and still get a refund of their cancellation fee. With Gold Status, members will also get priority support help.

Platinum members, in addition to the perks above, also receive surge pricing protection on one ride of their choosing. This means, if a Platinum member orders a ride when Uber is surging they can choose to protect their ride and still pay the normal, non-surge price. Platinum members also get the benefit of priority pickups at airports.
Lastly, in addition to the above perks, Diamond members also get dedicated 24-hour phone support from Uber as well as occasional free upgrades to premium rides such as Uber Black. They also get three Uber eats delivery fees waived every six months. Finally, at this level, riders can also opt to use the apps top rated drivers.
Currently, Uber Rewards is only offered to riders within nine locations in the United States: Miami, Denver, Tampa, FL, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Atlanta, San Diego, New Jersey and New York City. Uber plans to expand the program to other U.S. cities over the next few months and eventually worldwide.
If you currently reside in one of the nine cities listed above you can join the rewards program by tapping on the new icon under the "menu" tab in your app.
Lyft also announced that they are planning to release a rewards program in December but they have yet to release any details.
