What is DiDi?

DiDi Chuxing is a major Chinese ridesharing company with headquarters located in Beijing, China. The company was formerly known as DiDi Kuaidi. Since launching in 2012, DiDi has provided services for 450 million users on its platform. In the past year, the company completed 7.4 billion rides. As a comparison, Uber completed 4 billion. The market in China is a lot larger than the U.S., and the company is rapidly expanding with hopes to one day be the largest transport platform in the world.

Similar to Uber and Lyft, DiDi has many different services available for consumers to take, ranging from economy to luxury options.

Also similar to the popular rideshare companies in the United States, DiDi has a large division focused on the development and creation of autonomous vehicle technology. DiDi Chuxing has partnerships with major automakers and has a mission to transform the way the world uses transportation.

Where does DiDi operate?

DiDi currently operates in over 400 cities across China. Aside from China, DiDi Chuxing has already expanded to Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan. Recent news reports that the company is also expanding to Mexico and is in the process of recruiting drivers now.
