Being flooded with pings isn't necessarily a bad thing, right? More money! I mean, it won't just be creepers and weirdos. It can even be females looking for safe rides.
Heck, they should employ surge on it too for being in such high demand. Just constant 3x surcharge ALL the time. Talk about promoting more females to drive...
I suppose it's more for suburbian slower times, when there are more drivers than the customers You know the times. Mid-mornings, middle of afternoon, etc.
I can see this helping your chances, assuming that Uber actually does consider for more than just distance for choosing a driver.
A - When a woman is crying and saying her credit card is no good? You did the right thing by ending the trip for two reasons. One, that's caring thing to do. Two, maybe you wouldn't get paid anyways if her credit card bounces. (though, I guess that's on Uber.)
B - Tough one. I don't think you should have driven to her mom's home. She is overstaying your welcome there. Why make you do that?
C - I don't think you should have agreed to take herhome, as I feel like they are trying to take advantage of you, but I wasn't there and I don't know how it was asked. Knowing that there were three cars in the driveway, I am thinking they either didn't know you were a paid driver or they decided to take advantage. You should have said, "can you request a ride, and I will try to respond."
D - I don't think at that point it matters where you dropped her off. This woman should have backed off and let you go. I can't believe the lack of commonsense in this woman.
Gosh, what's wrong with the world today? I don't care how poor or down on the luck she is, she shouldn't play into your sympathy and take advantage of you like that.
Just wrapped up my shift. Meaning, I am too tired to keep driving.
I gotta fuel, but not places open near me now. Arg. 32 miles left in tank.
Just like anything, I am sure you can make a living out of anything, despite having a family. It's just a matter of your goals and expectations. and balance that against life style and level of quality of living that you require.
I am sure some people can drive a bit, make $500 a week, and be fine with it.
The important thing, and perhaps a lesson we need to learn is that it should be easier to tell how much money I would be making. Uber is being so crooked right now how they deviated from a straight commission model, and now I can't even tell how much I would be making.
This is an important point because even if I am going to live humbly and am okay living a reduced "lifestyle", I should still know how much I will be making. we have to make choices Uber.
Yeah, we make so little money on these rides that I am not sure if we can afford to give freebies. I mean I know we cannot.
I suppose you can pitch the idea to Uber! or once they start playing nice with the government, maybe there can be state sponsored programs they can put into place.
Buy the 360 degree ones. It basically has two cameras and can record where you are going and inside the car.
If not, at least buy the one that swivels.
Also get ones that record sound.
Already? I knew that was ineviatble but I didn't want the excitement to be over yet. Can we enjoy it just a little while longer?
+1. The perception does matter.
I've been dinged on this one by Lyft. "Driver was on the phone the whole time. He never made eye contact."
Ouch. I didn't know I had to make eye contacts to get a good review.
$16 minimum. I would take $10 for Uber. Those short trips kill me
Appreciate the data. Very helpful
For those who don't drive, we do get a notification on the Uber app when the user's trip is longer than 45 minutes. So, just know that if your driver accepts, they are AWARE you are at least going 45 minutes.
Here is the tip: In other words, if your trip is like 45 minutes to 60 minutes, don't worry about asking because the driver already signed up or it.
I am intrigued. What are the rates like for those kid Ubers? Like HopSkipDrive? I went to their site but they dont' seem to post it. Is it flat fees or do they actually pay for duration and distance?
You say men don't drive them, but I assume it's because of the preference by the company then.
Experince, I agree.
Speed? Men drive faster? but if you drive fast, you may cover more distance, but you will lose out on the time. (Though we get paid more on distance.)
Location Preference? Do you think driving in the ghetto will net you more money than driving in more affluent areas or business areas? I'd think it would be the opposite.
...or are you referring to how women with that preference will get less rides?
This is total crap. Experience, speed, and location preference?
I'd say it's more the time and the hours they work (guys can work nights), bigger "talent" pool (more there are, more talented drivers are around), ....that's it.
I maybe give it to experience. Maybe Uber drivers were taxi drivers. They obiously know the ropes.
That's what I always thought it was. Is it actually Food Uber? Much more innocent than I previously thought.
This actually makes sense, doesn't it? As long as the driver is good about accepteing rides, there shouldn't be a problem about sharing this information. If the driver is cherry picking the requests, the acceptance rate will naturally fall below the threshold.
Genius.
What a jerk-off question to post, disrespecting how people make a living in the service industry, and how they shouldn’t be tipped for providing such service. The same thing could be asked about any service industry job.
Why tip a masseuse? Waitress? Landscaper?

I've had a rat, well, more like a small mouse on the floorboard. all wet after a drive in the city. Not sure if it was tracked in or it was already in the car and died.
